The nose is often the subject of much scrutiny, and many are staunchly critical of their own noses. Rhinoplasty, or nose surgery, is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures today and can improve the appearance, shape, angle, and prominence of your nose. Nose surgery helps create balance and harmony between the facial features and can dramatically improve your overall appearance.
Self-perception can be dampened if you are uncomfortable with your appearance. By altering the shape of your nose so that it is more pleasing and attractive, rhinoplasty can help you feel more self-confident.
Rhinoplasty can manipulate the tissues of the nose to effectively improve its size, shape, angle, prominence, and more. Sculpting the nose even in subtle ways can transform your whole appearance.
During nose surgery, Dr. Henry can restructure the airways to improve airflow. This additional benefit of nose surgery can improve nasal breathing for patients who have a deviated septum or another nasal structural abnormality.
Every rhinoplasty procedure is unique because of differences in nasal anatomy and aesthetic goals. Common procedure techniques include sculpting and rearranging the underlying bone, cartilage, and nasal tissues to improve appearance and breathing functionality. Dr. Henry will place an incision either discreetly between the nostrils or hidden inside the nose. In many situations, some cartilage, bone, or skin may be removed to minimize the nose or nostrils. In other cases, an implant may be inserted to reshape the nasal tip and bridge. Dr. Henry uses her artistic eye and strategic surgical techniques to sculpt the nose into a more naturally beautiful appearance.
Rhinoplasty is performed as an outpatient procedure using general anesthesia.
Patients return home from rhinoplasty on the same day as surgery and should rest and relax for the first few days. The protective splint will need to be worn for one week to keep the nose in place while the delicate tissues heal. Most patients can return to work after 10 days and resume exercise after two to three weeks.
If internal incisions are used for your procedure, there will be no visible scarring. For patients whose anatomy and goals require an external incision, scarring will be minimal and inconspicuous. This incision is placed between the nostrils at the base of the nose and is undetectable in many cases. Some patients may also need a small incision at the outer edge of each nostril, but these will be concealed in the natural creases to disguise any scarring.
Results will become noticeable as the swelling subsides over the weeks following your surgery. The nasal tissues will continue to shift in minor ways until up to one year after surgery, at which point the final results will be visible.
Every rhinoplasty is uniquely customized to work with your anatomy and to achieve your aesthetic goals. Dr. Henry takes special care to sculpt the nose so that it looks naturally beautiful for each patient. Rhinoplasty will shape your nose so that it looks well-balanced on your face, and this single localized procedure can significantly enhance and define your overall facial attractiveness.
