Jaw enlargement surgery can alter the size and shape of an individual’s jaw. Some people feel that their jaw width is too narrow or there are those who desire a more square or robust look. Additional plastic surgery procedures at our San Francisco Bay area centers that may enhance your jaw enlargement results are cheek implants, chin enlargement, rhinoplasty (nose reshaping), or blepharoplasty (eyelid lift).

During this procedure, incisions are made in the mucous membranes near the wisdom teeth. Biologically correct implants will then be carefully placed, and incisions are then simply closed. Jaw enlargement procedural details will be discussed with Dr. Henry during the initial consultation, as she will help determine how much augmentation is actually needed to achieve the patient’s desired results. For instance, a puncture through the skin over the jaw may be needed if the implants are to be fixed in place with screws.
This is an outpatient procedure that is performed with the use of general anesthesia. The mouth must be kept free of food particles and debris during the post-op period, due to the location of the incisions. This is to help prevent an infection from developing. Typically, moderate swelling occurs during the first seven to 10 days after surgery.
