The Lunch Hour Facelift

Lunch Hour FaceliftMany people think that a facelift is the only tried and true remedy for the aging face. While a facelift is the ideal solution for those seeking a permanent improvement to facial wrinkles, it is most likely not the best choice for someone who doesn’t have the time to recover. BOTOX® Cosmetic or injectable fillers are known as “The Lunch Hour Facelift” because each treatment is complete in about an hour, and both require no down time. The results are not permanent but are comparable to those of a facelift.

BOTOX® or injectables are a good option for those who:

  • Are considering a facelift, but would like to try a temporary change first
  • Are not able to set aside a couple of weeks to recover from a facelift
  • Are hesitant to undergo an invasive procedure

Injectable fillers are also a better option for those who would like to increase fullness in the face, as a facelift alone cannot restore lost volume. However, injectables can be done at the same time as a facelift to achieve the desired results.

In this post, we will briefly compare BOTOX® and the three most popular injectable fillers: JUVÉDERM®, RADIESSE®, and Restylane®.

What it is:  Onabotulinumtoxin A, a toxin that is completely harmless when used in small doses

How long it lasts: About three to five months

What it is: Hyaluronic acid (cross-linked)

How it works: By replacing lost facial volume and filling in wrinkles and folds

Where it works: Fills nasolabial folds and hollows in the cheeks. Augments the lips.

How long it lasts: Nine to 12 months

What it is: Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres in a sodium Carboxymethylcellulose gel

How it works: By establishing a synthetic “scaffold” under the skin, which provides an internal structure for the newly formed collagen

Where it works: Nasolabial folds, corners of the mouth, the chin, cheeks, jawline, and hands

How long it lasts: Up to 12 months

What it is: Hyaluronic acid (cross-linked)
