Butt Enhancement FAQs
Butt enhancement has slowly taken the spotlight over the past couple of years. As more celebrities show off their large, round derrieres, more people are becoming interested in transforming their own backside. However, because it’s not as mainstream as other procedures, like breast enhancement, there may still be many questions you have about the process. Let’s answer them.
Am I a good candidate for butt enhancement?
People considering butt enhancement have flat, poorly defined, or shapeless butts. All plastic surgery candidates should be in good health and have realistic expectations about their results. Candidate qualifications vary depending on the technique that is used for enhancement. You should discuss your desires with a board-certified plastic surgeon to see what is best suited for your needs.
What butt enhancement options are available to me?
There are three ways to augment the appearance of your buttocks:
- Fat transfer
- Butt lift
Which technique is the best?
Each butt augmentation technique is designed to treat a different need. The “best” technique depends on your body type and the aesthetic you are hoping to achieve. Your surgeon will recommend the best technique for you. In general:
- Implants provide the most significant size increase
- Fat transfer allows for more custom shaping of the buttocks
- Butt lift treats poor definition caused by laxity
Is butt augmentation painful?
General anesthesia is used during surgery, so the procedure itself isn’t painful. However, you may feel some mild discomfort and tenderness for several days following your procedure, but it should subside within the first week.
When can I sit during my recovery?
You cannot sit for the first six weeks of your recovery. Your surgeon should show you modified resting positions that do not place any pressure on the buttocks. A soft pillow or yoga mat is eventually used to avoid direct pressure to the buttocks.
How long do butt enhancement results last?
Without complications, results from a butt augmentation procedure should be long lasting. Patients should be aware that fat transfers utilize natural tissue that might change shape over time, and weight loss can cause you to lose transferred fat volume. For this reason, weight loss is not recommended if you want to maintain your shape after fat transfer.
